Beginnings

Here's the Beginning of What If I Lived:

(October 2010).
I was actually down 6 pounds from my all time high of 288. I asked my wife to take this photo at an apple orchard while my son played in the hay bale maze and I spent most of the time sitting at a picnic table. I wanted to start my new life on Novemeber 1. Unfortunately it would be January 2011 before I would break free of my chains and get serious about reclaiming my life.

The challenge I put before me was to run an actual race - more than a block long and that cost actual money to enter. By the way, at the time, i despised the very thought of running!

Here I am, moments after my March 2011 7K Race - down 30 pounds!
March 2011 - my medal and beer in hand! Woo hoo.
Lucky #7 for my first race!

And 52 pounds lighter, with two 10K races ande a 5K race behind me (and maybe a half-marathon ahead of me - yikes!), hanging with inspiration-maniac Ben Davis:
Ben Davis and I shortly before the BenDoesLife 5K run.
A few pounds later, just before running the Torchlight 5K with Mark H, another believer/hus-band/father determined to get healthy and take care of his family!

The little guy is my son, Andrew.
And most recently, down a total of 89 pounds, with about 10-15 more to go:

The shirt is from my 2nd Torchlight - it's an XL!

This has been a journey - and it's not over yet - and I have my wife, Minda to thank for the encouragement to get off my butt and start living! Here's a shot of us during the week before my 50th birthday, during which we ran 50K together.
